Meet County Clerk Ed McGettigan

Ed McGettigan is a lifelong resident of Atlantic County and currently resides in Somers Point with his wife Starr and their two sons, Ed and Riley. After graduating from Villanova University School of Commerce and Finance, he returned to Atlantic County to manage the family business, McGettigan’s Saloon.

Ed, and the McGettigan family, is well known for their long tradition of commitment to public service and a dedication to helping others in Atlantic County.

   
 

Ed McGettigan was elected as a Councilman-at-Large for the City of Atlantic City between the years of 1994 and 2001, and served as Atlantic City Council President during a time of unprecedented tourism and economic growth.

Ed also served on the Atlantic City Planning Board, was Chairman of the Planning and Development Commission, and served on the Atlantic County Improvement Authority during the planning of the new Atlantic City Convention Center and the new railway station.

Ed is an active member of the community. He has coached Little League baseball and was a member of the Cape Atlantic Juvenile Diabetes Foundation. He is a member of St. Joseph’s Parish in Somers Point and is also on the committee to restore St. Nicholas Church in Atlantic City.

Ed McGettigan managed the John F. Gaffney Green Tree Golf Course, a division of Atlantic County Parks and Recreation, prior to being elected as the Atlantic County Clerk in November of 2006. He is currently serving his first term as County Clerk.
