If you are starting a non-incorporated business in Atlantic County, you must register the name of your business with the County Clerk. The fee for filing a Business Trade Name certificate is $50.00. We will provide you with a Business Start Up Booklet at no additional charge.
County Identification Cards

County Photo Identification Cards are available to all county residents. Included on this card is your photo, name, address, date of birth, height, weight, eye and hair color, and signature.

IN ORDER TO OBTAIN A COUNTY CLERK PHOTO IDENTIFICATION CARD YOU MUST PRESENT AT LEAST ONE ITEM FROM ALL THREE CATEGORIES

PROOF OF UNITED STATES CITIZENSHIP OR A LEGAL PERMANENT RESIDENCE STATUS CARD (ALSO KNOWN AS A “GREEN CARD”). ORIGINAL DOCUMENTS ONLY!! STATE ISSUED BIRTH CERTIFICATE WITH GOVERNMENT RAISED EMBOSSED SEAL OR A UNITED STATES PASSPORT. ALL OTHER APPLICANTS WHO DO NOT POSSESS THE ABOVE DOCUMENTS SHOULD INQUIRE ABOUT ID CARDS AT THE NEAREST NJ MOTOR VEHICLE COMMISSION.
IMPORTANT NOTICE REGARDING MINORS: ID Cards are only issued for minors age 16 and older in our Mays Landing Office ONLY! Minors must be accompanied by BOTH parents and the birth certificate must indicate the names of the parents. If there is a “Custody Order” please bring the original document. We can also accept a Notarized Consent Form and a copy of ID from the non-appearing parent in special circumstances.

VERIFICATION OF YOUR LEGAL SIGNATURE (some examples): A SIGNED Social Security Card which reflects your current signature, a Driver’s License, major credit cards, gasoline, or bank cards pre-signed, social services cards, military ID, court, school, or medical records, a deed, employee ID, or signed tax return copy. Apt. and Condo Leases are NOT acceptable.
In some cases we would ask you to bring in early documentation of your identity such as early school records or a High School Year Book with your photo and name. This would only provide us with supplementary identification and is not acceptable without the other citizenship and residency requirements.

PROOF OF ATLANTIC COUNTY RESIDENCE (some examples): New Jersey Driver’s License, Utility Bill, landline phone bill, postmarked BUSINESS mail within the last 30 days, Voter Registration Card, recent postmarked correspondence from a court, a hospital, attorney, The Casino Control Commission, a school or college, or a recorded property Deed. No leases accepted! You must prove you are a resident of Atlantic County, New Jersey.
THESE ITEMS ARE MANDATORY BY NJ LAW AND COUNTY CLERK POLICY.
NO ID CARDS WILL BE ISSUED WITHOUT THESE DOCUMENTS!!

Civilian Absentee Voting
If you are a qualified and registered voter, you may apply for an Absentee Ballot to be mailed to you by sending a written request to our office no later that 7 days prior to the date of the election in which you wish to vote. Your request should be on an official Absentee Ballot Application Form If you fail to meet the 7 day deadline, you may come to the County Clerk's Office in person during the 7 day period prior to the election (until 3:00 PM the day before the election) and receive the ballot. If you are confined due to illness, please call our office and we will explain the alternatives available to you.
Permanent Absentee List
Disabled voters who have difficulty going to the polls may request that their names be placed on our Permanent Absentee List. This will ensure that those voters automatically receive an application to vote in all future elections.
Military Service Voters
Absentee voting privileges are available to military personnel, their dependents, patients in veterans' hospitals, and civilians attached to or serving with the military. For more information or to receive an application, please contact the Election Division directly.
Election Information
As a service to the public, the Election Division maintains Primary and General Election results as well as campaign expenditure reports. This information is public record and may be examined in the Mays Landing Office or copies may be purchased.

Public Real Estate Records

The Office of the County Clerk is responsible for the filing and recording of all documents affecting real estate ownership and transfer within the County of Atlantic, including Deeds, Mortgages, and their related documents, and Federal Tax Liens. Our Records Room is open to the public where all documents are available for public inspection and retrieval.

Senior Citizens residing in Atlantic County can obtain a County Identification Card free of charge from our office.
Veterans Services

Veteran Vending Licenses
Veterans residing in Atlantic County may apply for a Veteran's Vendor License. You must be an honorably discharged veteran, apply in person at the Clerk's Office, bring your DD-214 discharge papers and proof of Atlantic County residency. There is no charge for this service.
Veteran Identification Cards
Veterans can register their DD-214 discharge papers with the County Clerk's Office. Registering this form affords the veteran the security of knowing that his/her records are permanently recorded. A Veteran who records his/her DD-214 will receive a Veteran ID Card which shows the Veteran's name, address, and file number of their recorded DD-214. This service is free of charge to all honorably discharged Atlantic County Veterans.
