Atlantic County Clerk Giralo Files Amended 2026 Primary Results after 24 Cure Ballots Counted

Atlantic County Clerk Joseph Giralo is pleased to report that his office has filed an Amended 2026 Primary Election Results document after 24 primary cure ballots “held hostage” by the United States Postal Service were opened and counted by the Atlantic County Board of Elections on July 14.

The two dozen ballots recently gained public attention when Clerk Giralo raised concerns and urged the Board of Elections to count 24 “cured” ballots held by USPS due to an alleged postage billing issue. USPS’ hold of this important mail prevented the Board of Elections from including the count of these ballots by the legally required deadline.

“These cure forms were submitted correctly and received timely by USPS in complete compliance with New Jersey law. The actions by USPS to withhold the associated ballots from being counted could have resulted in 24 legitimate Atlantic County voters being disenfranchised had we not intervened,” explained Giralo.

“These citizens took all the tedious steps to ensure their ballots and cure forms were returned as required, yet USPS held them despite being their envelopes being marked as ‘official election mail,’ he added. “It’s important that every valid vote cast is included in the final count.”

Clerk Giralo expressed appreciation for the support of a count by the Atlantic County Board of Elections and the Superintendent of Elections Office.

“Working together, we addressed this situation quickly and justly to best serve the people of Atlantic County,” said Giralo. “We are committed to ensuring the integrity of the election process. Not even the United States Postal Service is going to interfere with the right of our citizens to vote.”

The Amended 2026 Primary Results will be posted on the County Clerk’s website at: www.AtlanticCountyClerk.org. and will be shared with the New Jersey Secretary of State for acceptance.
